Most Spanish podcasts for Spanish learners are mierda (well, apart from Notes in Spanish, but even they didn’t make the cut). The Spanish podcasts on this list are made for native Spanish speakers. They speak as they would normally and are actually interesting… I hope you enjoy them as much as me!
Entiende Tu Mente
Understand your mind. That’s exactly what psychologists, Monica, Luis, and Mono help you do each week. A listener will send them a message about a challenge in their lives and the 3 of them give helpful insights. It could be advice for a new job, learning to control our emotions, or improving relationships.
For your Spanish
I believe this Spanish podcast is one of the most popular among Spanish speakers. The show hosts are all from Spain, but the callers are from all over the Spanish-speaking world. Each episode is around 20 minutes long, so great to get in some Spanish listening practice without draining your mental energy.
El Arte de Soñar
This is my new fave podcast. You probably figured it’s about the art of dreaming. The host, Andrea Agudelo, has a guest each week talking about what dreams means to them. It’s a really uplifting podcast. I love hearing the Latin perspective on life. I feel it’s very different from our westernised ideals.
For your Spanish
So, as well as being a lovely uplifting podcast, the host has a beautiful Colombian “Paisa” accent. I live in Medellín, so it’s perfect for me to hear the local accent/ vocab. The episodes are also short, so easy to follow along with.
De la N a La Z
This podcast is from YouTuber Nacho Z. His YouTube channel is about life in the UK/ London as an Argentinian (I recommend his YT channel too). Whereas, his podcast covers a bit of everything; one week he might be chatting about content creation, the next about moving to a new country, football, or interviewing other Latinos that have moved from their countries. He’s a genuine guy and always interesting to listen to whatever he’s chatting about.
For your Spanish
Nacho is from the south of Argentina, so if you’re looking to improve your Argentinian Spanish ear, his podcast is perfect. The episode length varies, but generally speaking, it’s only him talking which makes it easier to understand/ follow.
DEBYOM: De Estoy Bien y Otras Mentiras
According to Spotify, this was my most listened to Spanish podcast in 2020. “I’m okay and other lies” is about life and spirituality. The host, Maria, is an actress (she’s in one of my favorite shows “La Reina del Flow”) but talks mainly about spirituality on her socials. Her personality is super engaging and the topics are always relevant to the shit going on in our lives. I’m a huge fan of her and her podcast even if she’s not uploading that frequently at the moment.
For your Spanish
Maria is Colombian with a super clear accent. She’s the easiest to understand out of the list, for sure. However, her episodes are the longest. Especially the interviews. But regardless, it’s good to push yourself out of your comfort zone once and a while.
En fin.
These are the 4 Spanish podcasts I alternate between. I’m sure you’ll find one that tickles your fancy… And if you have any you listen to (intended for natives), drop them in the comments! I’ll be updating the list as I go.
